Organizing successful self-presentation

Provide information on the following:

  • name, age, and address (if needed)
  • education and work experience
  • hobbies and interests
  • personal dreams
  • how the STELLA project was received

Methods employed

  • guidance | tuition
  • role play
  • power point presentation
  • brainstorming | group discussion

Feedback on methods

  • Guidance is needed regarding the amount and kind of information that is acceptable to share.
  • Group discussion led to the successful sharing of ideas.
  • Power Point usage is helpful for those who choose to present themselves this way.
  • Role playing between members (in pairs of two: reporter and interviewee), also mentioned as extremely helpful and fun.

Organizing a birthday party

Things to consider

  • Finding the right space | date | time
  • Calculating the financial cost of the party
  • Catering: food | drinks | order the cake!
  • Make arrangements for music | dance
  • Organize invitations

Methods employed

  • role play
  • power point presentation
  • brainstorming | group discussion

Feedback on methods

  • Brainstorming and the group discussion are effective.
  • Members equally participated in the discussion and shared ideas.
  • Minimum guidance needed.
  • Role playing along with PPT usage, also, helpful. Repetitions and the effort to explain “how to..” to others led members to better understanding of the individual parts of the procedure.

Organizing a meeting

Things to consider

  • Finding space | date | time
  • Finding and contacting topic | speakers
  • Planning a detailed schedule for the day
  • Catering: food | drinks
  • Creating confirmation of attendance sheets | brochures
  • Distributing responsibilities: team work

Methods employed

  • role play
  • power point presentation
  • brainstorming | group discussion
  • post it notes
  • guidance | tuition
  • experiential exercises

Feedback on methods

  • Group discussion led to successful sharing of ideas.
  • More guidance needed from the coordinator.
  • Organization of responsibilities seemed the most challenging:
  1. Post-it notes for aspects of successful team work were found helpful.
  2. The experiential exercise on strengths and weaknesses of the members was also found interesting.
  3. Role playing on actually planning it, perhaps the most helpful.
