The ELLA International Social Inclusion Music and Art Festival

The Festival takes place annually in the small town of Kas, which is located directly at the Mediterranean Coast, right halfway between the region's bigger cities of Antalya (190 km) and Dalaman (180 km).

Our Main target was to organize and institutionalize an International Social Inclusion ELLA Festival.
We have long standing experience in organizing music festivals on a national level as a "coming together" of all kind of people, with or without special needs. All performing arts, plastic arts and music are the main topic to participate and the second area of focus will be the marketplace of related organisations from all over the Europe.
We aim to address the perception of people with special needs in the different countries by organizing international workshops in which people with special needs will teach people without special needs.
This represents a 'switch of roles' and will be accompanied by a reflective process to exchange impressions and experiences within the project. Including impressions from the general public regarding their perception of people – with and without special needs – in the different countries.

We further welcome everybody who wants to attend the festival on own costs as a visitor, i.e. to take part in the side line events and activities and as spectator at the Final Festival Evening.
Last, we invite all partners who cannot attend the festival in person to send presentations (Film, Photos, Paintings, etc.) or other informative materials (flyers, posters, etc.) about their
organization and its work to be exhibited or disseminated under the frame of the festival.

This workshop facilitated the application and transmission of acquired skills in an unconventional way - from teachers with special needs to students without special needs. By changing the conventional patterns, we aimed to trigger awareness for the abilities of people with special needs and the necessity for access to suitable forms of education. There was space for:
- Workshop | min 3 countries
- Round tables | min 3 countries or organisations
- Know-how exchanges | online exchange, skype, social media, blogs, material exchanges
- Train the Trainee
The workshop, roundtable and trainings took place in Istanbul in September 2014.
The workshop took 4 days and ended in a final performance on stage. The event included people with special needs.
The workshop included
- Getting to know each other
- Reflection, feedback and discussion rounds
- press meeting
- evaluation
- Social events such as country evenings, city tour, etc.
Final evening on Stage
The Final Festival evening in Istanbul was concluded with a performance on stage. Every member of Caravan 2000 and other foreign partner organizations had the opportunity to send a performing group
of maximum 10 participants. Besides this, every country sent work for the exhibition, such as photos, paintings and sculptures. As the ELLA evaluation meeting was being held at the same time in
Istanbul, everybody was, of course, invited and a large group of people were able to participate.
In preparing the activity the following steps were taken:
- Regular meetings of coordination team (AYDER Dreams Academy and IBETH) in Istanbul, distribution of responsibilities and tasks, setting up of a work schedule
- Train the trainers – Workshop at Dream Academy in which disabled participants were trained to teach others
- Organization of travel and accommodation for participants
- Dissemination of press announcements in order to ensure a wide visibility and impact of the project
